Common Questions
How long is the course of treatment? What to expect?
This depends on the condition.
At the beginning of the therapy, we review patient’s medical history, and results of vision tests.
It is important to measure the progress. Patients have to have a complete vision exam prior to starting the first course of treatment , and then again after, to evaluate if they are responding to the therapy. It is then followed with the second course of treatment, and vision re-evaluation to determine the final results. Each course of treatment has two treatment sessions per day for five days.
Patients are also expected to follow the provided diet, lifestyle, nutritional and herbal supplement guidance. This is to address the underlying health conditions, nourish the eyes and help maintain the eyesight.
Please note that this is not a "miracle cure" and for some patients it takes longer to see the results than for others.
Ongoing treatments/maintenance schedule is recommended on per case basis to retain the achieved/remaining eyesight, especially for degenerative conditions.

How is it different than other acupuncture treatments?
Ophthalmic Acupuncture therapists consider underlying systemic disease processes as a root cause of chronic eye diseases and treat both concurrently.
We practice Microacupuncture - a modern hybrid system that combines several different acupuncture systems such as: Traditional Chinese Acupuncture, Auricular Acupuncture, Scalp Acupuncture, Korean Hand Acupuncture, Micro Acupuncture, AcuNOVA Acupuncture, Electro Acupuncture.
This is highly effective therapy, not just for vision, but also for many internal conditions, pain, neuropathies, and emotional wellbeing.

Some people are more sensitive than others. Slight bruising and/or mild soreness where needles were inserted might happen. It is harmless, rare, and resolves quickly on its own. We practice gentle technique and use small, specially designed painless disposable needles of the highest quality.
